Xaod the Slayer

Nanoc met Xaod at Terrigan’s flophouse in Hommlet during Turn 18, and lost a drinking contest to the burly warrior. When the party later sought allies to investigate the nearby ruined moathouse, Danton investigated Xaod in Turn 21 and learned his reputation as both a dangerous fighter and a drunk.

Learning that Xaod had already visited the ruins of the Temple of Elemental Evil alone and lived to tell about it, the party decided to take a chance on the warrior. Xaod proved his mettle at the moathouse, helping Nanoc and Aseneth to drive off a young blue dragon and saving Nanoc’s life after a hard-fought battle with a band of gnolls.

He also demonstrated unexpected powers that marked him as an unlikely paladin of Heironeus, but unfortunately his services to the party were lost when he was killed in a fall in the obelisk chamber below the moathouse.
